Jace Lee – Professor

Jace started training in Martial Arts when he was 7, starting with karate, then Muay Thai at 17, before training in Aikijiujitsu and receiving his Shodan black belt in 1996. During that time he also had a few bare knuckle  fights whilst living up in Cairns, luckily without loss. Also working in security for 4 years around Surfers Paradise night clubs.

Jace started training in Gracie Jiujitsu in 2002. He competed at State and National level competition at White and Blue belt until 2012, regularly medalling at both, when a serious shoulder injury on a film set whilst performing a stunt put him into early competition retirement.

Since then Jace has coached at Axis Gold Coast, other affiliate schools, as well as Axis HQ. including training any students/ fighters preparing to fight in MMA or Jiujitsu competitions.

Jace spent nearly a year training with the Evolve MMA  fight team in Singapore while working over there on a Stunt Contract at Universal Studios 2010. Training with Renzo Gracie Jiujitsu and Sityodtong Muay Thai. He has been a professional Stunt Performer and now Assistant Stunt Coordinator for the past 18 years.

Jace has refereed at The Rickson Gracie Cups on the Gold Coast as well as the Jiujitsu Classic competitions. And is the regular time keeper at War on the Shore Muay Thai shows.Jace received his Black Belt from Professor Jason Roebig in Gracie Jiujitsu in September of 2021.

Ben Fairall – Professor

Ben began his martial arts journey in 1995 training in kickboxing / Muay Thai for several years in Sydney with Mick Spinks Double Dragon Academy before experimenting in mixed martial arts in 2006.

During his MMA training injuries forced him to delve deeper into the traditions of self-defence and the intricacies of ground works within Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training under Alex Prates, Bernardo Trekko and Tiago Ferreira’s “Gracie Humaita”.

Having competed regularly at different belt levels Ben ultimately moved to the Gold Coast for continued training where he received his Black Belt under Professor Jason Roebig Axis BJJ in 2023.

Ben’s passion and dedication for the Martial Arts traditions of both self-defence and self-development has made him keen to pass on his knowledge and experience to both children and adults alike.

Dan Ronan

Daniel started boxing at the age of 17 training on and off for a couple of years and having a couple of fights under Coach Stephen Ng.

At the age of 22 he decided to try Wing Chun Kung Fu as the school were one of the only schools on the coast back in 2005 to offer BJJ classes. He immediately loved it and started training regularly. He moved to Melbourne in 2006 and got his blue belt down there in 2008.

In 2010 after 4yrs of living in Melbourne he moved back to the Gold Coast and started training under Proffesor Jason Roebog of Axis Jiu Jitsu. He competed regularly up until brown belt then decided to give MMA a try. Having 2 fight with 2 submission wins.

He was awarded his Black Belt in 2017.
